Like one of these? Would love to have one - however, with 3 dogs already, probably out of the question. Very cute though...
have you ever wanted to own a pig but found the prospect of living with a 250-lb.
(110 kg) hog to be too much of a commitment?
the adorable little porkers start out at less than a pound and grow to weigh somewhere between 40 lb.

had a surprise visit from some jw relatives over xmas.
they had never visited before, had never been invited, were travelling out of their way and despite having planned to "stop by" gave no advanced warning such as a phone call even a few minutes ahead of time to see if it was convenient.
they stood at the door apologising for not phoning in advance but offered no reason other than that they'd decided not to call.. when invited in they had little to say (perhaps disappointed??).
2014:
probably steal gifts rather than bring any
Yeah, that part sucks..I agree...typical JW mindset - if they get a gift during the Christmas season, it's ok to take it yada yada, it's a year-end bonus so not really Christmas - you know all that rationalizing that takes place when they are in a position to GET something - never think of giving, though, do they?
Anyhow, I couldn't help thinking the poor buggers probably didn't have anywhere else to go - I mean on Christmas day, their 'brothers' aren't doing anything exciting, are they? Possibly service, but that is really in extreme poor taste and from what I am seeing, getting less popular by the year (a good thing!). So, I guess they figured, go see the 'weak' relatives and encourage them? ha ha !
I think there's hope your relatives are on their way out - and from other stories on this board, at least when some leave the JW fold, they finally learn the SPIRIT of Jesus' words and start GIVING...here's hoping...you know the dubs keep talking about worshiping in SPIRIT and in truth - they harp on the Truth part but you never hear them talking about the SPIRIT part - they need to learn the SPIRIT OF GIVING. Anyhow I just loved the fact that you enjoyed yourselves so much and they were none the wiser! Good on ya!
in sweden the tradition is to eat lobster and fillet of beef and champagne of course!
party, dance and party more with family and friends.. i've never attended a real new year party (for obvious reasons) but it would be nice sometime.... i'm happy that my boyfriend will come and join me from the north.
some times i find it hard to stay awake until midnight though.
I don't celebrate New Year as much as observe it, if you will - if I'm awake enough to do so! More and more I find I need toothpicks to keep the eyelids open once it nears 11:30 - 12:00. Usually watch the ball drop, have a sip of the bubbly with friends (don't really care for champagne), and call it a night! Anyhow, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

wait, speak to deborah first.. .
the upside of this approach is that deborah is a real woman and will be able to give you girls proper advice.. the downside is that you will either need to first find a top rate medium (shes been dead quite a while) or wait for rutherfords god to bring her back from the dead (which rutherford maintains will happen any day real soon now if not even before the convention ends).. you will easily recognise her as rutherford has thoughtfully printed a picture of her in the new and bang up to date children book.. unfortunately if you dont live in the usa you will need to telephone her, which thankfully has recently been invented.
expect to hang on the line a while as she will be very busy playing her agony aunt role for so many jws worldwide all seeking her advice, but rutherford says that it will be well worth the wait.. .
Man, you just can't make this s#$&* up!
Just when I think I've heard and seen it all, another humdinger surfaces...thanks for this - those old WTs and Consolations and Zion's Watchtower etc. must be an absolute minefield of 'tidbits' just waiting to be unearthed...thanks for bringing one of the gems to light for our edification! Looking forward to more. Proper nourishment at the right time, my a&&!
i'm one of the few stalwarts that will be working until christmas eve; what about you???.
looking forward to your replies; signing off for this week...almost 5:00 p.m. at last!.
sd-7 - thanks for the reply! Never knew us folks were called 'tweeners' - here I am again working right up until the bitter end - 3:00 p.m. today...
wishing you all a very happy and prosperous 2011. may we all be able to live in freedom and peace, no matter what.. happy new year one and all!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!! Thanks for thinking of us poor working schlepps while you guys are already celebrating!

Just thinking, not knowing your relatives, could it be that maybe they're part of the conscious class now and were hoping that they could confess to you, seeing you had a Christmas tree up, and start a new family tradition? Wouldn't that have been great?
Our JW relatives usually pull that 'surprise visit' thing every year as well, mostly during the holidays. We were spared this year.
They were too late. Xmas had already been celebrated: a stack load of presents been opened, the dinner and wrappings, hats, crackers were all
cleared away. The tree was elsewhere in the home. All that remained was the good cheer, wonderful memories and considerable video
footage that will never grace their eyes.
I just love that! Good for you!
first time poster here but i've been lurking a while.. i have a question that i was hoping some of the watchtower historians might be able to answer.
if a witness was willing to read some of the organisation's older publications, what books would you get them to read and how do i get these books?.
my family are witnesses and my father is an elder.
You know, you have to give your Dad credit for listening to you as long as he did. Remember, the most mental exercise most Witnesses get is going for reinforcement of their already accepted dogma 5 x per week - ok 5 meetings in 2 sessions, but still it's all reinforcement. Difficult for them to go into defense mode, especially when it's family. I say he's already allowing you to make points; go slow, you're already having an effect! Good work, keep it up!
